Lodging info for 2011 SOHN50.
Submitted by therunawaymule on Wed, 08/10/2011 - 17:31.Comfort Suites in Starkville, MS is now offering a $20 discount to racers of the SOHN50. In order to be eligible for the discount, reservations must be made 2 weeks prior to the event. So if you hope to take advantage of this discount, you'll need to reserve a room before August 20th.
Also, the race organizers have reserved camp sites AT the race venue. These site are about 50 yards from the pavilion and start/finish area. At present, we have 3 sites left. Please contact Charlotte Fuquay about reserving one of these sites. (Her info is on our "Contact Us" page of the website.) In addition to these 3 available sites, there is also the option of several people setting up on the same site if you will be tent camping. Again, ask one of the race directors about this and we will do our best to make room for additional tents.
Hope to see a huge turnout this year! We already have more pre-registered racers than we did last year. If you know you will be coming to the race, please pre-register. This makes Saturday much less stressful on the organizers (because we already have a list of points to stress over...) and gives us a much more accurate idea of the available funding and food quantities to prepare on race day.

It's Done Son!
Submitted by jeremywesson on Fri, 09/10/2010 - 13:49.
It’s official…the inaugural Skool Of Hard Nox 50 was a success! 67 racers signed up for the event with 61 actually toeing the line for the le mansstart. 55 racers completed the event. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and, from all accounts, the trails were riding well. Racers from seven states showed up to vie for some great prizes. To wit: 1st place in the 40 under cat took home a piece of pottery, a set of Schwalbe tires, and $240.00!!! 2nd place $190 and pottery, 3rd $160 and pottery, 4th & 5th took home $120 and $110 respectively!!! For the over 40 cat: 1st $225 & pottery, 2nd $175 & pottery, 3rd $140 & pottery, 4th $110, and 5th $100. The women took home $80 for 1st, $50 for 2nd, and $20 for 3rd with each of them receiving pottery as well. We were also able to offer some great preem prizes (don’t see those very often at MTB events!): 1st to check point one earned $100, 1st SS finisher took home $75, fastest 2nd lap was awarded $60, mystery 1st lap time $40, mystery finish time $25, oldest finisher $50, last finisher $50, fastest 1st lap got a bottle of Hammer gel & flask, first to cross the line on the le mans start got a Hammer gel bottle and flask, and each racer that completed the full 50 received a finisher’s towel! Our sponsors made this all possible. Check out the sponsors link on our web site (www.theskoolofhardnox50.com) and let them know you had a good time (if, in fact, you did). Further, as we grow this event for the future, we’d appreciate any input from you guys: what worked? what didn’t? what could we do better? Ultimately, this event was designed with y’all in mind. Anyone who has ever organized an event knows that you can’t please everyone but you can do your best and look to improve your product. The dust is still settling, the promoters are still weary and reeling, but we have already kicked around some ideas for next year’s event. What we really need though is for those of you who decided against the Nox 50 this year to make it one not to miss next year!

Nox 50 is stepping up its game!!!
Submitted by jeremywesson on Fri, 08/27/2010 - 19:11.Check out these gorgeous maps! Gunnar Olson from Starkville has graciously made and allowed us to publish these incredible maps!!
For those unfamiliar with the course, the start/pavillion is in the lower right hand corner just before the 'split' in the lake.
Thanks Gunnar!
And remember only 10 days left before the race!!
A Look At The Goods!
